A Perfect Storm – Poulsbo Documentary Family Photographer

Sometimes in life you experience a perfect storm. A time when all the chips fall at once. For some reason, the past couple Octobers has been that time for my family. In 2016 I was massively pregnant, my husband had to leave town last minute for work which meant I had to miss a conference I had purchased tickets for months earlier. Then, to add insult to injury I landed the nastiest head cold I’d had in a while.

This past year my son and I were hit with a case of Hand Foot Mouth. Graciously, it somehow missed his sister. But she developed impetigo thanks to a perma-rash she had on the side of her face while she was cutting her first few teeth. That, of course, also passed to my poor son. Then, as the icing on the cake, my husband had to leave town again. And while, thankfully, the worst of the illness has past by the time he left. I was still on my own, tending to sores, reminding my son not to itch his welts multiple times a day, and tending to a baby who still wasn’t anywhere close to sleeping through the night.

We survived. We survived the perfect storm of October and I’d like to think that we are all the better for it. This is Here & Now’s installment for October 2017.
