Sham of the Perfect 2017 – Kitsap Documentary Family Photographer

2017 closed out a third full year of Sham of the Perfect. For three years now I’ve been managing this project alongside Natasha Kelly & Lacey Monroe. For someone that has never managed to complete a 365 project, or even a 52 week project on their own, three years feels pretty incredible.

But what feels more incredible is getting to work with this wonderful group of women from all over and watch our kids grow up and our families evolve a little week by week. We’ve seen babies born, families move, and houses being remodeled. I feel so fortunate to have found a tiny little village of my people through this project and together that village has created something that’s connected with an even larger audience. And, when it comes down to it, that connection is what art is all about. Tossing something out into the ether in the hopes that someone sees it, sighs, and says “oh, so it’s not just me.”

So to those of you following along, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. And if you aren’t following along yet check us out on the web, on Facebook, and on Instagram.

2018 starts year four for us and if you are an photographer looking to get your documentary family work out there please check our our submissions page.

And finally, because it’s always fun to see all the images together in one place, here are my images from 2017. (Click a thumbnail to enter gallery view.)
