Dad Is Home December 15, 2015 – Kitsap Documentary Family Photography

What a lot of people don’t know about military deployments is that for as challenging as it is to have your spouse away for extended periods of time, it is also incredibly challenging when they come back because, OMG, Dad is home!  We need to drop everything like a hot rock and do all the things like yesterday.  It’s as if every day is a party, which is cool, but it also means that work piles up and eventually your 3 year old looses his freaking mind because he doesn’t know what to expect from life anymore.

December’s Here and Now was shot about a week after my husband returned home after being away for about 4 and half months.  I was already dying for life to simply settle back into it’s happy routine.  My son was pissed about going to preschool (which was a first) because he didn’t want to miss anything at home.  But we were still at the height of doing all the things we missed while he was gone so  we that night made a nice dinner together from one of the Turntable Kitchen boxes we hadn’t found the time to make yet.  This, as it turned out, involved cooking a lobster. It may or may not have been a bit more upsetting for me than I ever would have anticipated being that I am a great lover of all sorts of meats.  Thank heaven we didn’t name the damn thing otherwise we might have a pet lobster right now.
