Lovely Warriors – Bainbridge Island Family Photojournalism

On of the great joys I have in this little business I run is that I get to see family dynamics of all shapes and kinds.  I get to act as a small, if sometimes sort of bossy, fly on the wall while mothers encourage daughters and fathers joke with sons and husbands sneak glances at wives.  It is a truly wonderful thing to see love work in so many different ways.

When Stephany contacted me to shoot a family session a couple months ago she mentioned that her kids were a little camera shy so she wanted try her luck with getting some more candid-style photos in lieu of traditional portraits.  What I found is that her kids are a little camera shy, but not necessarily because they are scared of the camera.  Instead, these are kids with iron wills.  These are kids that are going to pave their own way in life.  (And I am pretty sure they get it from Mom and Dad.)  This is a family of lovely warriors, who will look out for each other at all costs and has the courage to tackle any obstacle head on.

And when they decide to take some family photos, there will be bubbles, and light sabers, and patience, and laughter, all wrapped up in one incredible family bond.

Here are a few highlights from their storytelling session at Fort Ward State Park.
