In the Kitchen – Personal Photography – Poulsbo, Washington

This past week our little guy finally perfected the skill of being able to climb both on and off our dining chairs.  And just like that we have transitioned from simply moving things out of his reach to having to consistently teach him what he is and isn’t allowed to touch.  Which is fine because he is also, slowly but surely, starting to learn a little bit of self control.  Mostly this new development makes my days a little busier because I am frequently trying to ensure he isn’t getting into something he shouldn’t, but it also means he can finally get up on our level and that is fun.

This weekend my husband unexpectedly didn’t have to work so we decided to spend some time in the kitchen and made brunch. We pushed a chair over to the kitchen island, our little dude climbed right up and  spent the entire time intently watching what we were doing and trying to help.

He spent sometime surveying our ingredients and helping dad read the recipe.

He gave our vanilla extract the old sniff test.

He ran some quality assurance on our measuring spoons.

And made sure dad was using the whisk correctly.

Overall, he was quite the little task master.  Normally not my managing style, but the Challah French Toast turned our pretty good, so I may be hiring him on in the same supervisory role again.
