Pregnant and Exhausted – Kitsap Documentary Family Photographer

I’m really behind in culling, editing and posting my Here and Now project. Normally, I’d be kicking myself but I have a new baby and I’m practicing patience and some extra self forgiveness this year. And it’s been interesting looking back with some serious hindsight on all these images. This day in September, for example, I can see my absolutely weariness coming through all these images. I probably would have argued with you about it at the time. “Exhausted? Me? No you must have me confused with some other hugely pregnant woman you know.” But I was. I was so exhausted and stressed and tired of waiting; for the baby to show up, to feel better, to figure out what my husband’s travel schedule was going to be. And despite my attempt to put my best face on things, that exhaustion and inability to put forth more than the bare effort is all I can see in these images.

And you know what? I’m still glad I have this day photographed, despite all it’s lackluster images. It’s a reminder of one of the more challenging times we’ve weathered as a family thus far. And a reminder that we can handle what the future brings as well.
