Toddlers. – Personal Photography

I think it is common knowledge that parenting a toddler is noisy, messy, and tiring.  It is, in a word, difficult.  Also very fun.  But on somedays you just count down the moments until they cozied up in bed and you are cozied up on the couch beer in one hand remote control in the other and your “to do” list flapping in the metaphorical breeze.

I was prepared for the tantrums, the screaming, the sudden assertion of independence.  What no one told me was that living with a toddler is like living with a maniac.

They will play the simplest games repeatedly.  Like playing “fetch” with the dog when they barely have the coordination to throw.  And they will laugh.  They will laugh not only like it is the funniest thing they have seen all day, but like it is the funniest thing they have seen their entire life.

They have no forethought and will climb on the same chair multiple times, even though they cannot get down without assistance.

They have little sense of self preservation.

They have no sense of privacy.  If they can see it, open it, or reach it; it’s theirs.

And they can’t help but make crazy faces when they eat.

It is a very good thing this particular little dude also happens to give out some of the best hugs I have ever had.  Makes all the mania a little easier to deal with.
